MVH RP: Priss and Itachi

Photoderp CS5 along with my trusty mouse. I have a tablet now and made an attempt or two at using it, but invariably went right back to my mouse. Ah well, at least it's handy for the handwriting parts. XD The actual picture is 2500x2500 at 300dpi. I started this on 05.31.2011, and I finished it on 06.05.2011.

I played Priss on a Multiverse game years back, and what's great about Multiverse games in general is all the weird combinations of characters who get thrown together. Many of which you never heard about until after you roleplayed with them. This was definitely one of those cases, and the other fun thing about Multiverse settings is when characters click unexpectedly. The resulting dynamic was really interesting in this pair's case, and pretty complex since this is from back when everyone thought Itachi was a total villainous dickwad. Even Priss rather expected this was going to end very badly for her.

The main problem with Multiverse games is that people always drop characters and leave, and the games pretty much always die from it eventually. This is what happened here. Priss actually lost both of her friends at the time (Itachi, obviously, and also Rurouni Kenshin's version of Saito) and she went totally crazy for a while... which, while fun to RP her distress over it in the short term, was just depressing in the long-term.

This is a moment taken from the last scene Priss and Itachi were in together on that game. They ended on a weird note, and once every six months or so I go "god damn it, that was interesting RP" and sulk in the corner. XD So I guess this is a tribute to weird RP pairings. I took some artistic license in not bothering to draw his clothes, since he was showering three minutes later anyway. And while I did all this intending to add all the cuts and blood-smears and the like to him he had in the scene, I ended up deciding to learn to do that on a less complicated picture. (This is only my... fourth(?) non-MS Paint picture, so I'm still learning the photoderp.)

I'm reasonably pleased with the background (holy crap, I did a background!) and I think I'm getting closer to where I want on drawing hair in this program.

Oh, and obviously I didn't draw them in their respective full anime/manga styles. Semi-realism for the win? I think I converted them pretty nicely, even though the oversized eyes still make me facepalm a little. If I ever try to draw him again in particular for whatever reason, I think I'll try for full realism. Big eyes on dudes in particular looks weird in my style. At least, it does to me since I'm used to drawing guys in full realism.

I may do some more Priss artwork; she was surprisingly fun in this picture. I could use the practice with chicks anyway.

Disclaimer: I've never read or watched Naruto, so I hope I got Itachi's look right. I did do some image searches for official screencaps/scans of him and such while I drew, at least. And I remembered the nailpolish because cyberpunk!rockstar!Priss always harassed him about it.
